Safety First

One of the most elective surgical procedures in animals are those that render animals incapable of reproducing. These are more commonly known as spay and neuter. By far neutering which comprises spays and castrations are the most commonly done procedures performed in our surgery suite on small animals.

Spaying (ovario-hysterectomy) of dogs and cats is to completely remove the ovaries and often the uterus of a female animal. To castrate (orchiectomy) is to remove the testicles of a male animal.

Neutering is usually performed to prevent breeding, prevent unwanted behavior, or decrease risk of future medical problems. Neutering is also performed as an emergency procedure to treat certain reproductive diseases, like pyometra, and testicular torsion, and it is used to treat ovarian, uterine and testicular cancer.

Our surgeon, Dr. Will Barrios, brings over 30 years of surgical experience to our practice and provides efficient and quality surgical work.

While working with many rescue groups we've become painfully aware of the need for a lower-cost alternative for neutering and have done our best to keep our fees affordable for most. Many pets are going unsterilized due to the high costs.
